My name is Greg Oselinsky, and I have been a Police Officer for 19 years. I have been a member of my Department's SWAT team, a rangemaster, and a firearms instructor for the last 15 years. I have a lot of experience shooting, cleaning, and maintaining the AR-15/M-16 rifle variants. I know how important it is to properly maintain and clean these rifles, but I also know how much of a pain it is, especially the bolts. I have spent entirely too much time over the years cleaning the build up of carbon off of AR-15 rifle bolts. It seems like I have used everything under the sun to try and make this process easier. Over the counter solvents, fancy make-it-yourself solvents, dental picks, knife blades, metal brushes, bore brushes, screwdrivers, even empty shell casings, but none of them really made it easy to get the carbon off. No matter what I tried, it always seemed like cleaning the bolt was the hardest part and it always took the most time. I knew there had to be a better, faster, easier way to clean the carbon off.
I started thinking about ways to clean the bolt faster and easier, and talked with my father-in-law Gary Bain about developing a tool. Gary is a retired mechanical engineer and has a passion for building things. He is a master woodworker and craftsman, but hadn't made a tool like this before. Together, we created the G & G Bolt Cleaner and Polisher Tools. Our goal was to make efficient tools that make gun cleaning easier.
I wanted to make sure the tools weren't some cheesy gimmick or single use cheap throw away tool. I wanted to be sure our tools were made with quality materials, that they were 100% made in the USA, and that they were durable enough to stand up to the rigors of gun cleaning. I also worked hard to keep them affordable, and wanted to make sure they were built to last. To accomplish this, we used a very dense Delrin material for the body of the tool, used stainless steel for the scraper blade, and came up with a design that was easy and comfortable to use. The result was a cleaner tool that could clean the built up carbon off the AR-15 bolt in just a few seconds, and a cleaner/polisher tool that could clean the built up carbon off the bolt and polish it to a pristine shine in under 10 seconds. These are efficient and useful tools that are built to last.
We made two tools so you can choose your own level of maintenance. Some people just want to "run and gun" so we made the G & G Bolt Cleaner a smaller tool that is quick and simple to use. Just take out the bolt, use the tool to clean off the built up carbon and you're done. It will not get every last bit of carbon off the bolt, but it takes off the large ridges of built up carbon that can interrupt the flow of gas in the weapon and cause malfunctions. This tool is perfect for those times when you don't want to fully clean the rifle, but you need to be sure that it will keep firing. This tool allows you to clean one of the key components of the rifle and get back in the action fast.
For those who demand the utmost in cleanliness and function, we made the G & G Bolt Cleaner and Polisher. This tool is perfect for cleaning off the built up carbon, then polishing every last bit of residual carbon off the bolt tail. The cleaner and polisher takes only a few seconds more, and uses a cleaning pad to polish off the carbon. It is perfect for those of you who have your rifles inspected before they go back in service, or the match shooter who needs to be absolutely sure the rifle fires the way it is supposed to. It doesn't matter how you use your rifle, this tool is perfect for everyone with an AR-15 style rifle.
A lot of us depend on these rifles with our lives, and we can't afford not to clean them properly. I think these tools can help make the cleaning process easier, and make your rifles work better and more reliably.
Thank you for your business.
Keep your heads down, and your rifles clean!
